Power update: More and more lights are on

There are still people in the Mahoning Valley without power, but crews continue to narrow the original number of 188,000 customers in the Ohio Edison/Penn Power Eastern Region.

As of 10 p.m. Tuesday the number dropped to about 28,000 customers without electricity.

Specific regions are as follows: Mahoning County, 5,500; Columbiana County, 8,000; Stark County, 2,000; Trumbul County, 6,200; Lawrence County, 4,000; and Mercer County 5,000.

Crews are aiming to have power restored to the majority of customers by tomorrow and all power restored by the weekend, said Paul Harkey, Ohio Edison/Penn Power spokesman.

“There are always going to be stragglers in a massive storm like this,” said Harkey.
