Trial set for man accused of pointing gun at coach

The accused has a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

AUSTINTOWN— A township man who has been accused of pulling a handgun on a baseball coach June 10 will go to trial.

Dallas Lough, 64, formerly of Westchester Drive, was set to appear in court for a pretrial Monday evening.

Mahoning County Court Prosecutor Ken Cardinal said he and Lough’s attorney failed to reach a plea agreement, and a trial date will be set today.

Lough was charged with aggravated menacing after a 36-year-old Struthers baseball coach said Lough pointed a handgun at him a during a confrontation after he left a baseball game.

The coach told Austintown police he and Lough exchanged words after Lough walked from the backstop toward Raccoon Road, which is when he said Lough pulled the gun.

Lough told police that he had a gun but never pulled it from his waistband.

Police said Lough has a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

Cardinal said Lough has since moved to West Virginia.

If convicted of this first-degree misdemeanor, Lough faces up to six months in jail.
