COLUMBUS (AP) — In the fast-paced life of an executive, appointments with seven medical specialists aren’t easily scheduled.
So OhioHealth has begun bringing the experts to the patients, through its Executive Health & Wellness program.
A typical appointment schedule, similar to programs at the Ohio State University Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic, combines myriad checkups into a single day.
“We all lead such busy lives; I find that patients sometimes put themselves last,” said Michael Yaffe, the program medical director.
“It’s a day to focus on you and your health.”
And a full day at that: Dublin patient Robert Shenton was booked from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. last month when he became the first program patient to check into the McConnell Heart Health Center on Olentangy River Road.
The 41-year-old managing partner of Plante & Moran saw a physician, a dermatologist, a psychologist, an exercise physiologist and a dietitian.
He received a cardiac calcium scoring, a stress test, an electrocardiogram, a VO2 test (to measure oxygen capacity), a Bod Pod scan (to measure body composition) and a full-body massage.
The physiologist assessed his golf swing; and the dietitian told him what to order at Tucci’s Wood-Fired Bistro and Mitchell’s Steakhouse, his favorite restaurants.
At day’s end, he consulted with Yaffe, who pulled the findings into a 45-minute report.
