Weather delays paving project on Route 224
Bad weather caused a delay on a traffic project.
STAFF REPORT
BOARDMAN — Because of recent rain, the final paving work on U.S. Route 224 through the intersection with Tippecanoe Road/Lockwood Boulevard hasn’t been completed, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation District 4.
Weather permitting, this work will resume about 10 a.m. Monday. At that time, there will be lane restrictions on U.S. 224, periods of stopped traffic — maintained by law enforcement officers — and at times, turns at the intersection will be prohibited.
These conditions are expected to last between two and four hours. Delays can be expected. Should Monday’s weather be unfavorable as well, this work will be postponed until Tuesday morning.
Reconstruction work is occurring on the east side of Tippecanoe, south of U.S. 224. Access to all businesses is maintained via the drives on U.S. 224 or Pheasant Road. This work is part of a $4.1 million project to widen the approaches of the US 224 intersection with Tippecanoe/Lockwood. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by July 2009.
The Interstate 680 southbound exit ramp to Meridian Road will close from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning Monday and continue through the week for excavation work. The detour will be I-680 southbound to the Belle Vista Avenue exit to Mahoning Avenue to Meridian. This work is weather dependent.
