Cortland couple plan peace celebration
CORTLAND — A Cortland man and his wife are organizing what he believes will be the Mahoning Valley’s first peace celebration at 1 p.m. Sept. 21 in Cortland.
Clyde Bolinger, 76, says he and his wife, Jean, became interested in the survivability of the planet a couple years ago because of the ongoing threat posed by nuclear weapons.
There are now more than 7,000 nuclear weapons in the control of around 27 countries, he said.
Because of the potential of several of them being launched and the world being rendered uninhabitable, he organized the event with the idea of having policies changed within the Security Council of United Nations.
