Seniors levy

These groups oversee spending of money generated by a seniors levy approved in November 2005:

The District XI Area Agency on Aging: Provides assistance to senior citizens in Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties with money from the federal government, Ohio Department of Aging and local governments. It also hired Tony Cario to be staff director for the Senior Services Advisory Council office on Youngstown Road in Warren.

The Senior Citizens Services Advisory Council: Members were appointed by the Trumbull County commissioners as a recommending body to advise commissioners on how the levy funds should be spent.

Trumbull County commissioners: They authorize the spending of money from the levy based, in part, on recommendations from the advisory council.

SCOPE: An agency that runs senior centers throughout the county and has received money from the senior citizens levy to increase the services it offers.
