Retroactively entered into a $171,000 agreement with the Rea & Associates accounting firm of New Philadelphia for the audit of the county’s 2007 books, which began in July and must be completed by Sept. 30. This is the first year of a three-year auditing contract with the New Philadelphia firm.

Heard county Engineer Richard Marsico say that $5.2 million worth of rehabilitation is nearing completion on the Spring Common Bridge in downtown Youngstown, which is expected to reopen in mid-October.

Heard Joseph Warino, county sanitary engineer, report that installation is nearing completion on the $3.6 million Petersburg sanitary sewer, which will be available for use by the end of this month.

Awarded a $54,611 contract to Murphy Contracting Co. for installation of a new floor in the attic of the century-old county courthouse to improve maintenance workers’ access and an $11,760 contract to Santon Electric Inc. for installation of permanent lighting there.
