The Wolverines and Tartans will be in their 50th meeting. Stephen Mercer (Beaver Local) caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from junior QB Andrew DiDonato, and finished with five receptions for 58 yards. Junior safety Vance Keirsey (Mineral Ridge) had an interception for the Wolverines. DiDonato completed 16-of-29 for 167 yards and also led the Wolverines rushing with 37 yards.

THIEL (0-1) vs. ALBION (0-1)

Scouting report: Thiel’s late lead vanished as Marietta’s last-minute touchdown gave the Pioneers a 21-18 win, while Albion lost its opener to Butler, 20-6. Matt Shields (Jackson-Milton) registered a sack for Thiel. The Tomcats’ defensive leaders were senior CB Tom Butera with 10 tackles and two pass breakups, and junior Clint Walker with eight tackles, including one for a 3-yard loss. Freshman punter Brice Mertiff of Thiel was named PAC special teams player of the week. He averaged 35.3 yards for seven punts, placing three inside the Marietta 20-yard line, to give the Tomcats good field position.

Junior PK Fred Romeo (Poland) was 2-for-2 in field goal attempts last week at Heidelberg, both kicks covering career-long distances of 34 yards. Allegheny QB T.J. Salopek threw for 217 yards and two touchdown strikes while completing 19-of-32 passes against Juniata. WR Jake Vite led the receiving corps with up 137 yards on nine receptions, while Bobby Burkes (Union) added five receptions for 40 yards.

Lehmeier rushed for 201 yards and two TDs, including the game-winner with 22 seconds left to play.
