SHARON, Pa. — David Bailey — singer, songwriter, and cancer survivor — will perform Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 600 E. State St.; and Wednesday at St. Michael Church, 80 N. High St., Greenville, Pa. Both concerts begin at 7 p.m. and are free.

An offering will be collected for the American Cancer Society and UPMC Horizon’s Oncology Patient Care Fund.

The son of Presbyterian missionaries Ken and Ethel Bailey of New Wilmington, Bailey spent his childhood in Beirut, Lebanon.

The Lebanese civil war forced him to complete high school in Germany, where he spent weekends as a street musician.

He also formed a small ensemble that toured central Europe.

In 1996, Bailey learned he had a malignant brain tumor and had only a few months to live.

He left his corporate job and returned to his first loves: songwriting and performing.
