Turning Technologies stays on software list
YOUNGSTOWN — Turning Technologies of Youngstown has been ranked as the nation’s 15th-fastest growing software company that’s privately held. The ranking was released Wednesday by Inc. magazine. The local company was ranked first in that category last year. Rankings are made on a percentage growth of revenues over three years.
Turning Technologies has grown from a start-up company in 2001 to a worldwide seller of audience response systems. It employs 147 people in downtown.
Affordable location
YOUNGSTOWN — The Sept. 4 issue of BusinessWeek listed the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman area as the second-most-affordable housing market in the country.
The article, titled “Affordable Housing Exists, If You Know Where to Look,” refers to the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index for the rankings. It’s based on incomes and home prices.
Boardman Administrator Jason Loree said the ranking is something that likely will be used as a marketing tool for the township.
Boardman Trustee Robyn Gallitto said it’s a positive for the township.
“A lot of people who live here, don’t necessarily work here,” she said. “They work in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Canton.”
It’s a relatively short drive and people can afford more house for the money here than in those cities, Gallitto said.
In 2007, Money magazine listed Boardman as the 19th most affordable place to live in the country.

GMAT scores thrown out after students cheat
RICHMOND, Va. — The publisher of the graduate business school entrance test said Wednesday it has thrown out the scores of 84 prospective students after shutting down a Web site they used to cheat on the exam.
The Graduate Management Admission Council said it had notified 84 people about the cancellation of their scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test. Scoretop.com had sold VIP access for $30 a month, and premium users could preview current questions on the latest GMAT, some posted by users after taking the exam.
