Festival for families at MetroParks Farm

CANFIELD — Mill Creek MetroParks’ fall festival, Sunset at the Farm, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the MetroParks Farm, state Route 46, across from Canfield Fairgrounds.

The free event will offer hayrides on wagons pulled by draft horses, campfire entertainment and freshly made apple butter and cider. Kids will enjoy a visit with farm animals, a marshmallow roast, a search for “needles” (toys) in a haystack and a trip through a cornfield maze, a sack race and an egg toss. The AgVenture Barn will be open and the Western Reserve Modular Railroad Club will stage a giant train display. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on at the campfire. Stambaugh Chorus has new director

YOUNGSTOWN — Hae-Jong Lee has accepted the position of director of the Stambaugh Chorus. Lee is the head of the choral department at Youngstown State University and the chorus master of Opera Western Reserve.

People interested in joining the Stambaugh Chorus can get more information at stambaughchorus.org or by calling (330) 727-4502. The chorus meets at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday during its season at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.

Theory of a Deadman coming to The Wedge

AUSTINTOWN — Theory of a Deadman with special guests Black Stone Cherry and the Parlor Mob will perform in concert Oct. 9 at The Wedge. Tickets to this 18-and-over rock show are $15 and go on sale at 5 p.m. Friday at The Wedge box office, Chili’s in Boardman and online at www.realrock104.com.

Theory Of A Deadman is touring in support of its latest album “Scars and Souvenirs,” which includes the No. 1 single “Bad Girlfriend.”

Dana orchestra concert

YOUNGSTOWN — The Dana Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Hristo Popov, will perform in concert at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Ford Family Recital Hall. The program will include Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor; Grieg’s Holberg Suite for String Orchestra; and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2.

Popov is the artistic director of the Chagrin Valley Chamber Music Concert Series, and is founder and director of the International Festival for Strings and More in Sandusky. He teaches at Youngstown State University and Western Reserve Academy.
