YSU marching band returns, seeks dancers for Penguinettes
The Youngstown State University “Marching Pride” will return to Beeghly Gymnasium for a pregame “Ice Breaker” pep rally at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The rally will feature the marching band from Central State University, the “Invincible Marching Marauders.”
Both bands will perform music from their new season, including halftime and pregame selections. The pep rally of music is free and open to the public.
The YSU band is seeking dancers in grades K-8 to become one-day members of the Penguinette Dance line as a part of “Shake A Tail Feather.”
Participants will practice with the dance line before the game, and join the band on the field during pregame Saturday.
For more details and location, please contact the director of the marching band at (330) 941-1833.
This year the marching band is featuring music to help the Football Penguins “Fight the Bad Guys” that visit Stambaugh Stadium by calling on the help of superheroes from recent films. Music for this year comes from “The Incredibles,” the TV series “Wonder Woman” and “Hawaii Five-O,” as well as music from the movie “Batman” and “James Bond 007.” Each pregame performance will feature both the Color Guard and Penguinette Dance line with music such as “Shake a Tail Feather,” “Welcome to the Jungle,” and “School is Out.”
