AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Deanna Nolan scored 18 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 14 points and eight rebounds to help the Detroit beat Phoenix in a rematch of last year’s WNBA final. The loss eliminated the defending champions from playoff contention with two games left in the regular season, while Detroit remained in contention for the Eastern Conference’s top seed. Katie Smith added 17 points for Detroit, which had six players score in double figures. Cappie Pondexter led the Mercury with 23 points and Diana Taurasi added 22.

Lynx 86, Fever 76

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota’s Seimone Augustus left after suffering a head injury in the first quarter. Augustus was hurt when she fell midway through the period after going up for a rebound and left the game in a wheelchair wearing a neck brace. Augustus, who was third in the league in scoring averaging 19.6 points, was taken to a hospital for tests. Minnesota also lost 2008 first-round pick Candice Wiggins with a injury to her right knee and didn’t play in the second half. Rookie Charde Houston led the Lynx with 18 points. Tan White led the Fever with a game-high 21 points.

Silver Stars 82, Liberty 76

NEW YORK — Becky Hammon scored 23 of her season-high 30 points in the second half to lead San Antonio, while Sophia Young had 15 points and Erin Buescher added 13. Shameka Christon and Jessica Davenport scored 15 points each for New York (18-13).

Sky 78, Mystics 59

CHICAGO — Jia Perkins scored 17 points and the Chicago snapped a three-game losing streak. Candice Dupree had 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Chicago. Armintie Price scored 14 and rookie Sylvia Fowles added 11. Rookie Tasha Humphrey had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Mystics (10-21), who lost their sixth straight.
