Wetlands building hearing planned

STAFF REPORT

LORDSTOWN — Citizens are invited to ask questions and offer comments on the proposed development of some industrial park land on state Route 45 by Henn Development Inc.

The hearing will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Lordstown Village Administration Building, 1455 Salt Springs Road.

The development would impact up to 2.84 acres of wetlands, so Henn has submitted an application to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the work.

Ron Barnhart, Lordstown planning and zoning inspector, has said Henn is proposing to expand the Lordstown Industrial Park at state Route 45 and Henn Parkway, and it wants to relocate some wetlands to create more land that can be developed.

The Corps said Henn wants to create three developable lots ranging from nine acres to 37 acres.

Henn would need to preserve, restore or replace the wetlands nearby to mitigate any impact on the environment, the Corps added.

The Corps has conducted a study to determine the effects the work would have on animals, plant life and water quality.

Public comments can be made at the meeting or sent in writing until Sept. 25 to the Ohio EPA, Division of Surface Water, attn.: Permits Processing Unit, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, OH 43216-1049.

The application and related materials are available for review by calling (614) 644-2001.
