Community meeting on Newton Falls teachers’ strike set tonight

NEWTON FALLS — Parents of students in the Newton Falls school district are being invited to attend a meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the Newton Falls Community Center in the community center park, 52 Quarry St.

The meeting will be to discuss issues relating to the teacher’s strike that began Friday. School has remained open during the four school days of the strike so far.

Substitute teachers and one returning teacher have provided classroom instruction. Officials say about 40 percent of the district’s students have been attending in recent days.
