Niles raises price of flu shot, offers it for kids

NILES — The Niles Department of Health will raise the price of flu shots and now offer children’s flu shot clinics.

During the monthly board of health meeting Monday, members agreed to raise the cost of flu shots by $5 to cover inflated costs, syringes and other supplies. Flu shots for residents will now cost $20.

The board also set dates for their walk-in flu clinics for adults. On Oct. 17 and Oct. 24, adults may receive their recommended flu shot at the Niles SCOPE Senior Center, at 14 E. State Street. A children’s flu shot clinic — an addition to the board’s services — has been set for Oct. 23, and will also be held at SCOPE.

A part-time registered nurse is also being sought by the department to replace a recent retiree.
