Sunday: The Hartford native drove the No. 22 Caterpillar Toyota to a 22nd-place finish at the Chevy Rock Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway. Blaney, who started 32nd, picked up 97 points in the Sprint Cup Series standings.

Season to date: Blaney moved up one position in the series standings, to 31st place, displacing Robby Gordon. He’s just 11 points behind No. 30 Michael Waltrip and 24 behind Reed Sorenson in 29th place.

Up next: NASCAR’s top series heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Sylvania 400 Sept. 14. It’s the first of 10 races in the Chase for the Championship.
