Grant applications available for philanthropist fund

YOUNGSTOWN — The Young Philanthropist Fund is accepting grant applications.

It was established in 2006 with the goal of introducing the Mahoning Valley’s younger generation to the role of philanthropy. The Young Philanthropist Fund board is composed of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley staff, members of Youth Leadership, the 20/30 club, Youngstown State University and community leaders.

Awards will be made to non-profit organizations with youth-oriented programs in the Valley. The total disbursement will be $3,000.

For applications, visit the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley’s Web site at www.cfmv.org. Click on the grant tab, fill out the application and return it to the foundation by Nov. 1.

HBA director retiring

BOARDMAN — Terry Abrams said Friday he is retiring as executive director of the Home Builders/Remodelers Association of Mahoning Valley, effective Nov. 2.

Abrams joined the HBA part time in 1998 as director of marketing. He was named deputy executive director the following year and was named to his current position in 2004.
