NEW MIDDLETOWN — A littering complaint in Welker Park led to multiple drug arrests and the arrest of a wanted person.

Police Chief Vincent D’Egidio said that while on patrol Friday he stopped a juvenile for littering in the park, which is located behind the police station.

After finding suspected marijuana and tobacco products on the juvenile, D’Egidio made an arrest.

During the arrest, information was obtained about the location of C.J. Schacklock, 18, of Petersburg, who was wanted on two outstanding warrants.

Schacklock was found by two officers in a wooded area on Main Street.

D’Egidio said the officers chased Schacklock on foot down state Route 170, where he was eventually arrested. Police have charged him with two outstanding criminal warrants, and also possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, criminal damaging to a police radio and failure to comply with a police officer.

He was arraigned Friday in Struthers Municipal Court and is in Mahoning County Jail.

Another juvenile also was arrested for possession of suspected marijuana and failure to comply with a police officer.

The two juveniles have been released to their parents.
