Ewing does it all in WR win


South Range quarterback Jack Dawson rushed for two touchdowns in a 14-7 win.

BERLIN CENTER — Western Reserve quarterback Shane Ewing accounted for 330 total yards and five touchdowns, leading the Blue Devils over Southington, 41-14, Friday night.

Ewing completed 8-of-11 passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed 15 times for 175 yards and two scores.

He had a hand in every touchdown for Western Reserve (2-1), which led 34-0 at halftime.

Paul Arditi added 77 yards rushing on 15 attempts and he caught a TD passes. Clayton Hull and Justin Lude also had scoring receptions.

South Range 14, Marlington 7

ALLIANCE — South Range quarterback Jack Dawson rushed for two touchdowns.

Dawson’s first score came on a 50-yard run to put the Raiders (2-1) ahead 7-0 in the first quarter.

The Dukes (1-2) tied the game when Quinton Howard scored on a 4-yard run.

In the second quarter, Dawson scored on a 13-yard dash for the winning points. Dawson finished with 129 yards on 13 carries. He also completed eight of 19 passes for 61 yards.

United 60, Jackson-Milton 0

HANOVERTON — The Golden Eagles (2-1) scored 47 points in the second and third quarters to hand Jackson-Milton (2-1) its first loss of the season.

Mike McLaughlin caught three passes for 84 yards and scored a pair of TDs for United.

The Golden Eagles outgained Jackson-Milton 361-92 and forced four turnovers, including three interceptions.

Leetonia 28, Mathews 17

LEETONIA —Quarterback Josh Selway rushed and passed the unbeaten Bears (3-0) to victory in a non-league contest.

Selway gained 146 yards on 19 carries and scored on a 30-yard run as Leetonia scored on the first possession of the game. Selway ran in the two-point conversion.

Right back came the Mustangs as Brent Jackson caught a 61-yard TD from Jake Swank.

Swank kicked a 22-yard field goal to give Mathews a 9-8 lead early in the second quarter.

Andrew Trummer caught a 31-yard TD pass from Selway with 18 secondsbefore halftime, giving Leetonia a 16-9 lead.

Selway completed 6-of-9 passes for 66 yards.

Jackson led the Mustangs (0-3) with 115 yards rushing on 22 attempts.

Southern 55, Toronto 0

TORONTO — Nathan Melhorn scored two touchdowns on runs of 37 and 4 yards and finished with 249 yards rushing in 17 attempts to lead Southern.

Bryan Brinker also ran for a pair of TDs from the 9-yard line and wound up with 54 yards rushing in 10 attempts to also spark the Indians, who barged to a 30-0 halftime lead.
