Anniversary team is announced before loss

The Scrappers fell to Auburn, 3-2, as rains stopped the game in the seventh inning.

NILES — The Scrappers announced their 10th anniversary team after season-long fan voting.

Named to the team (player’s year with the Scrappers in parantheses) were pitchers Fausto Carmona (2002), Jensen Lewis (’05), Tony Sipp (’04), Aaron Laffey (’04) and CC Sabathia (’99); relief pitcher Neil Wagner (’06); catcher Victor Martinez (’99), first baseman Todd Martin (’07), second baseman Joe Inglett (’00); third baseman Kevin Kouzamanoff (’03), shortstop Josh Rodriguez (’06), and outfielders Ryan Church (’00), Ben Francisco (’02) and Brad Snyder (’03). The manager is Travis Fryman (’08).

Friday night the Scrappers lost to the Auburn Doubledays, 3-2, in a game in the seventh inning because of rain.

Cord Phelps had a pair of singles for the Scrappers, while Jeremie Tice drove in a run with a single.
