3-vehicle accident leaves man dead

STAFF REPORT

WASHINGTONVILLE — Authorities are investigating a three-vehicle accident that claimed the life of one man.

Terry L. Bennett, 56, of Washingtonville, was driving west on state Route 14 in the village when he drove left of center about 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, according to police Chief John Finch. He died at the scene.

Bennett’s vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by a woman. The woman’s vehicle was then struck from behind by a vehicle driven by a man.

Finch said Thursday he was just starting his investigation, but he thought the man and woman sought treatment at Salem Community Hospital. Their identities were not available.

The Columbiana County Coroner’s office has autopsies performed by the Cuyahoga County coroner’s office. Results are expected in about four to six months.
