SCORE Chapter 112 will salute business successes at banquet


YOUNGSTOWN — Counselors and guests of Youngstown SCORE Chapter 112 will attend its annual Salute to Success Banquet, which will take place at 6 p.m. Friday in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center, on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The program will include tributes to the following clients who were counseled by SCORE 112 and have successfully started their own small businesses:

• Frank and Mary Ann Carevaglia, of Transfer, Pa., who have started a wedding planning and photography business, Weddings and Photography.

• Mike and Nancy Landgraff of Boardman, who sought help to begin an artisan bread bakery, The Bread Chef on Western Reserve Road.

• Steve DeFelice, who opened a sports barbershop known as Sports Cutters.

• Elliot Giles, who succeeded with his business, the Youngstown Youth Flag Football Association.

• Stephen Hanzely of Youngstown and Lynda Hartwig of Poland, who are working together in a small-business venture, Habitat for Humanity Restore of Mahoning County.

• Mike S. Pence, who opened his small business, Concept-4, a manufacturing plant in Salem.

Also, SCORE will award scholarships to two students from the Williamson College of Business Administration: Stephanie Haschenburger of New Springfield and Marie McBride of Poland.

Entertainment will be provided by the Seraphim Chorus. They will sing selections from the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s and will present a military tribute. Kris Harper is the music director.

Honored guests will be YSU scholarship recipients and staff members of the Williamson College and friends and family of the clients who enjoy continued success in the small business community.

It is the mission of SCORE to provide professional guidance and information accessible to all to maximize the success of America’s existing and emerging small businesses. During the past year, the chapter has provided assistance to more than 1,000 people through individual face-to-face counseling, business workshops and follow-up seminars.
