GIRLS SOCCER

Fitch 1, Mass. Jackson 0: AUSTINTOWN — Emily Durina scored the only goal on an assist by Kelsey Martin early in the first half. The Falcons (3-2, 2-0 Federal League), had six shots on goal to 16 for Jackson (4-1, 1-1) which suffered a league loss for the first time in many seasons. Ali Tolich had 14 saves for Fitch. Jackson’s Taylor Stano and Danielle Wiseman combined for five saves. JVs: Jackson 6-0.

Boardman 4, Lake 1: BOARDMAN — Heather Hughes scored a pair of goals and Taylor Deley and Jaine Avona each added one to lead Boardman to a Federal League victory. Deley, Avona, Jenna Mackey and Courtney Gratz all had assists for the Spartans (3-1). Rachel Ruckel scored for Lake. Boardman goalie Cheynee Khapib has six saves.

West Branch 0, Marlington 0: BELOIT — The Warriors’ (4-1-1) goalie, Tori Pelleman, had two saves, while Angie Nutial had two saves for Marlington.

Champion 3, Harding 1: WARREN — Heather Beachy scored two second half goals to lead Champion (3-2-0). Morgan White also scored for the Flashes and added an assist. Kaitlin Moore also had an assist for Champion. Harding’s goal was by Jessica Yuricek on a penalty kick. Abrielle Merten had 12 saves for the Raiders and Taylor Petersal added four for the Flashes. JVs: Champion 7-0.

Howland 1, Canfield 0: HOWLAND — Jessica Prokup scored the only goal on an assist from Jessica Wilson and Tyler Nicholas early in the in the second half. The Tigers (4-0-1, 1-0 AAC Red) had five shots on goal, compared to three for Canfield. Casey Haering had three saves for Howland. Anokha Padubidri had four saves for the Cardinals (3-1, 0-1).

Springfield 10, United 0: HANOVERTON — Alexis Dubick scored five goals and had an assists for the Tigers (6-0, 3-0 ITCL Tier One). Allyson Berry had two goals and three assists, while Breanne Mincher had a goal and two assists. Amber Uscianowski and Kayla Ohlin each had a goal. Hannah Chaella, Jaclyn Tabaka, Aubrey Bullen and Ashlyn Italiano all had assists. Heather Cozak had five saves for Springfield and Brittanie Willis had 12 for the Golden Eagles (0-3-3).

Newton Falls 4, Liberty 0: NEWTON FALLS Brooks Rogers, KIatie Lemasters, Rachel Ellis and Jennifer Bjelic all scored goals for the Tigers (5-1). Rogers and Ellis also assisted on goals. Rebecca Humberger had four saves in goal for the Tigers, while Elysa Raid added eight saves for the Leopards (1-3-2).

LaBrae 2, Girard 1: GIRARD — Julie Gibson and Gabby Borawiec scored goals for LaBrae (3-1-1), while goalie Kelsie Daniel had 13 saves. Girard’s (1-3) goalie, Mellisa Weitzman, had seven saves and Kelli Meigs scored the goal.

South Range 1, Columbiana 0: NORTH LIMA — Alex Baker scored the goal on an assist from Joe Stephenson for the Raiders (4-1) in the first half . Luke Yeagley had 11 saves.

Ursuline 2, Hubbard 0: HUBBARD — Marshall Finelli had Ursuline’s first goal in the first half, while Kevin Patrick had the second tally late in the game for the Irish (4-0-3). John Buckley had an assist on Finelli’s goal. Hubbard’s goalie, Zack Schmidt, had nine saves, while Andrew Rich had four stops for the Irish. JVs: Ursuline 5-1.

VOLLEYBALL

East 23-27-26-25, Chaney 25-25-24-18: YOUNGSTOWN — Alexandra Hines had eight aces, seven kills and six blocks for East (2-2). J’nay Rroand had four aces and 10 assists. Stephanie Hines had five aces and 12 assists. JVs: East 25-15, 15-25, 25-17.

Salem 25-25-25, Howland 21-21-22: HOWLAND — Salem, Amy Scullion had two aces, 19 kills and one block; Alli Ward had an ace, 10 kills and two blocks and Taylor Toothman had four kills and 35 assists. For Howland, Kelly Barzak had an ace, 11 kills and four blocks; Nia Grant had five Kills, three blocks; Sasha Masson had 13 assists and Stephanie Wiesniewsky had nine service points. JV: Salem 25-19, 25-18.

Brookfield 25-25-25, Campbell 17-10-5: For Brookfield, Ashley Swezey had eight kills, Brittany Hiner had six kills, 20 points and 16 assists; Marissa Jones had 10 digs and six aces and Hillary Christy had 21 points and six aces.

Lakeview 25-25-20-25, Girard 17-21-25-14: CORTLAND — Senior outside hitter Abbey Bensing had 13 kills, five aces, 14 points and one block, while Rebecca Calvin had three aces and nine assists for Lakeview (4-1, 3-0 AAC). McKenzie Patterson had nine points, two aces and eight digs, while Olivia Bucci had 11 kills for Girard (3-3, 1-1).

Hubbard 25-25-25, Newton Falls 13-19-14: NEWTON FALLS — Kelsey McGregor had 10 spikes and 14 digs, while Stephanie Blair had 10 assists for Newton Falls. For Hubbard, Starheim had 10 spikes and six blocks. JVs: Hubbard 25-5, 25-15.
