GM plant officials consider laying off more workers

MORAINE, Ohio — Officials at a General Motors-Isuzu truck engine plant near Dayton are considering laying off up to 330 hourly workers in November.

DMAX plant spokeswoman Courtney Strickler said Wednesday the cuts are being considered because of a slowing demand for heavy-duty trucks. The plant makes engines for the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra heavy-duty truck models, as well as the Kodiak and Topkick heavy-duty trucks.

About 710 hourly workers are employed at the Moraine, Ohio, plant. About 290 workers were laid off in July.
