Newton Falls teachers go on strike Friday, turn down board offer


NEWTON FALLS — Teachers in Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools will be on strike Friday after the union notified the board of education that it had rejected the board’s last offer.

Schools will remain open with substitutes in place of striking teachers.

In a press release today, Superintendent David Wilson that “the teachers will be on strike on Sept. 5. The administration has been preparing for the possibility of a teachers’ strike. Therefore, school will be open on Friday with qualified substitutes and students are expected to attend.”

Friday night’s football game between Newton Falls and Windham High School has been canceled.
