Thursday's Best Bets on TV
“Kitchen Nightmares” (8 p.m., Fox): In the second-season opener of “Kitchen Nightmares,” Chef Ramsay returns to some of the most memorable restaurants from last season and issues a progress report.
We sense a Category 5 temper tantrum in the making.
“Red, White and Brown” (10 p.m., Showtime): Russell Peters lampoons groups that other standup comics wouldn’t even recognize — for instance, Filipinos and Koreans — and they love the attention from a kindred spirit.
The comedy of Russell, an Anglo-Indian, is rooted in the experience of growing up brown in white Canadian society.
His very funny comedy special, “Red, White and Brown,” premieres Thursday on Showtime at 10 p.m. EDT.
Then, starting at the same time a week later, he will host a new series, “Comics Without Borders” — a half-hour, nine-episode showcase of multicultural standup comedians.
The show will feature comedians both well-known and on the rise.
