Woman accused of threatening mother
staff report
BOARDMAN — A 22-year-old Island Drive woman faces charges of aggravated robbery, domestic violence and obstructing official business, accused of threatening her mother with a knife.
Amber Jones was lodged in the Mahoning County Jail.
Police were called about noon Sunday to Island Drive where Jones’ mother and stepfather said Jones had held a butcher knife in each hand — with one to her mother’s throat and the other to her stomach, demanding the car keys.
The mother, 49, told police she had hidden the car keys the previous night to prevent her daughter from taking the car, and because she was flustered, she couldn’t remember where she hid them.
When the stepfather came into the house, Jones brandished both knives at him, backing away from his wife, police said. The man persuaded Jones to put the knives down, and she went to her room, where police found her.
When officers tried to book her on charges, Jones gave them a name other than her own, police said.
