Scrappers’ rough start spells doom in 8-5 loss

AUBURN, N.Y. — The Auburn Doubledays took advantage of the wildness of Mahoning Valley pitcher Curtis Haley to score five runs in the first inning, and went on to post an 8-5 victory over the Scrappers in a New York-Penn League game Tuesday.

Haley (0-1) last just 1‚Ñ3 inning, walking four batters and hitting one before giving way.

Robert Alcombrack and Zach Booker had two doubles apiece to lead the Scrappers. Booker and Ramon Hernandez had two RBIs apiece.
