WARREN — Police investigated an armed robbery, an assault with a vehicle and two shootings, including the shooting of a 46-year-old city man allegedly by his 45-year-old brother, over the holiday weekend.

Edward A. Yauger, 46, of Blair Avenue Northwest, had just finished serving 30 days in the Trumbull County jail on Aug. 2 for stabbing his brother, Mark R. Yauger, 45, of West Avenue Northwest, during a fight March 31, jail and court records show.

But on Sunday at about 7 p.m., it was Mark who was arrested — accused of shooting Edward in the foot after an argument near Mark’s home.

Edward A. Yauger was treated at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital for the injury, which was caused by a 12-gauge shotgun.

Warren Detective Michael Currington, however, said the entire episode was on videotape. The tape showed that Mark Yauger was acting in self-defense, and no charges are going to be filed. Edward also didn’t want charges filed against his brother, Currington said. Mark’s girlfriend was the person operating the tape.

Currington said the decision against charges was made after consulting with Tracy Timko-Rose, assistant Warren law director.

The victim in Sunday’s incident, Edward A. Yauger, was convicted of assault in Warren Municipal Court on March 29 for stabbing his brother multiple times outside Mark Yauger’s home.

Edward was sentenced to 30 days in the Trumbull County Jail and two years of probation.

Meanwhile, Timothy Carter, 35, of Cherry Street Northwest, is charged with two counts of felonious assault after police said he tried to run two men over with his pickup truck near 890 Harrison St. N.E. at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Witnesses said Carter, upset over a girlfriend, drove the truck toward one man, hitting him in the hip and knocking him down. The man suffered scratches on his knee. Carter then allegedly tried to hit another man but hit a telephone pole instead. Carter was later located at his home and arrested. Police did not say if there was any reason why the two men were targeted.

Carter pleaded innocent Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court with bond set at $50,000 and another hearing set for 10:15 a.m. next Tuesday.

Police also investigated an armed robbery at America’s Best Value Inn, 777 Mahoning Ave., at about 11 p.m. Saturday.

Employees said two men came into the office, one of them pointing a handgun at them and taking money.

Police also interviewed a 58-year-old city man at Forum Health TMH who was being treated for a gunshot wound to the foot he received during a robbery. The man said the robbery occurred at about 4 a.m. on Nevada Avenue Southwest.

The man said he was stopped by three men in a vehicle and one of the men got out, fired a shotgun into his foot and took the victim’s watch before getting back into the vehicle and leaving the area.
