Indians’ Lee named AL Pitcher of the Month

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cliff Lee, the Indians’ first 20-game winner in 34 years, was named Wednesday as the American League pitcher of the month for August.

Lee, a leading candidate for the AL Cy Young award, was 5-0 in August with a 1.86 earned run average in five starts. The left-hander allowed nine runs (eight earned) and 36 hits in 38 2-3 innings. He struck out 20 and walked seven.
