Bishop Murry to ordain 20 permanent deacons


YOUNGSTOWN — Twenty men will be ordained to the permanent diaconate for the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown during ceremonies today at St. Paul Church, 1459 Superior Ave. N.E., North Canton, and Sept. 13 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St. Bishop George V. Murry will preside.

Permanent deacons, who have studied for four years, actively serve their parishes by providing sacramental witness, active involvement in the community through outreach to the poor and marginalized and fostering Eucharistic communion of the Church.

Being ordained today are Mark Fuller, St. Michael the Archangel Church in Canton; Carl Jerzyk, Ed Laubacher and Peter D. Watry, all of St. Paul; Michael Seaman and Gregory J. Wood, both of St. Peter Church in Canton; and Michael Waldron, Sts. Philip and James Church in Canal Fulton.

To be ordained Sept. 13 will be Anthony Falasca Jr., St. Joseph the Provider Church in Campbell; Ernie Formichelli, Holy Family Church in Poland; Gary Keefer, St. Joseph Church in Mantua; Frank W. Marino, St. Bernadette Church in Masury; James L. Massacci, St. Peter of the Fields Church in Rootstown; Robert Theodore Mintus, St. Pius X Church in Warren; Nicholas Moliterno, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown; Robert E. Norman, Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown; Robert T. Redig, St. Luke Church in Boardman; Gerolome P. Scopilliti, St. Ambrose Church in Garrettsville; Robert G. Simmerly, St. James Church in Warren; Michael W. Stabilla, St. Patrick Church in Kent; and Raymond F. West, III, St. Edward Church in Youngstown.
