Scrappers win as Ks abound

AUBURN, N.Y. — Shortstop Lonnie Chisenhall, the Indians’ first-round pick in June’s draft, went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored to lead the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to a 6-1 victory over the Auburn Doubledays in a New York-Penn League game on Monday.

Scrappers pitchers struck out 15 batters in the game, while Auburn’s pitchers fanned 14.

Chisenhall hit his 19th and 20th doubles of the season and also stole his seventh base.

Jeremie Tice added three hits, including a triple, a run and two RBIs for the Scrappers.

Tim Federoff had two hits and two RBIs, and Brock Simpson also had two hits.
