Some smoked salmon sold in region is under recall
A Bellingham, Washington, seafood company is recalling 4-ounce packages of smoked salmon with pepper that were distributed by three supermarket chains, including Giant Eagle in Ohio and Pennsylvania, the Associated Press reports.
The recall of “Cracked Pepper Style Smoked Salmon” lot number 54933-2 made by Trans-Ocean Products Inc. was announced recently.
According to a Food and Drug Administration news release, the presence of listeria monocytogenes was found by the company in routine testing of a one package.
No illness from the product has been reported.
The smoked salmon was distributed to two other supermarket chains — Brookshire Brothers in Texas and Louisiana and Price Choppers in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Vermont.
