Rain, chill combined to hold down attendance
CANFIELD— The 162nd Canfield Fair got off to a slower start that usual due to chilly conditions and rain last week, but weekend attendance is on track with last year’s.
On Wednesday 14,690 people attended, as opposed to 25,311 in 2007.
Thursday’s attendance was 25,062, with 41,278 in 2007.
Sunshine on Friday and Saturday brought in more of a crowd, with 40,572 people on Friday and 74,936 on Saturday.
So far, the number of attendees from Wednesday to Saturday is 155,260. Last year, the total number of people to attend the Canfield Fair from Wednesday to Monday was 342,992.
Lynyrd Skynyrd tonight
CANFIELD — Lynyrd Skynyrd, the southern rock band made famous in the ’70s, takes the stage in the grandstand tonight at 8.
Tickets are on sale at the grandstand box office.
Grandstand seating is still available for $25, and only a few track and blacktop seats are available for $29.
Candidate set to appear
Ohio attorney general candidate Richard Cordray will be at the Canfield Fair today. He will be available at 3 p.m at the Democratic Party tent, located at Beaver and Bishop drives on the fairgrounds.
The candidate to fill the office vacated by Marc Dann this May will be visiting with Democratic Party volunteers as well as speaking with fair visitors to discuss their ideas for the attorney general’s office.
