Valley can view flick made here

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley will finally get a chance to see the locally made movie “Fine-Tune,” by filmmaker Chris Rutushin.

“Fine-Tune” had its premiere in an invitation-only screening in August at Ford Family Recital Hall.

The public will get several chances to see it.

Screenings will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 7, 8, 14 and 15 at the Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 W. Boardman St., downtown. Tickets are $10. For reservations, call (330) 746-0404. An exhibition of photos and production stills from the movie, taken by Youngstown photographer Gabriel Crish, will be on display. Also, T-shirts and CDs of the movie soundtrack will be for sale.

There will also be a sneak preview at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Royal Oaks Bar, 924 Oak St., where a scene from the movie was shot. The $10 sneak preview ticket includes hors d’oeuvres, dinner and a drink. Tickets will be available at the door and in advance at the Royal Oaks.

Rutushin, who wrote and directed “Fine-Tune,” got started as a broadcast news photojournalist. His career lead him from Ohio to New York to Las Vegas, where he earned an AP award and an Emmy. He returned to his hometown of Youngstown to make “Fine-Tune,” his first feature film. Rutushin borrowed family stories in writing the movie, which is based on an Italian-American family in Youngstown.
