Indiana QBs recover, should play

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana could finally have its quarterback tandem on the field together Saturday.

Ben Chappell and Kellen Lewis both went through full practices Tuesday, raising hopes they would play against Central Michigan — after concerns both may have to sit out.

Lewis missed the last two games with a high ankle sprain. Chappell, Lewis’ replacement, was hurt in last weekend’s victory over Northwestern.

“I took a little shot to the ribs, but I’m good now,” Chappell said after practice. “I’m good to go.”

After the Northwestern game when he couldn’t attend the postgame news conference because doctors were evaluating him.

Chappell practiced Monday although that is typically a shorter, less physical workout, then went through his usual routine Tuesday in chilly temperatures.

The prospects also look better for Lewis, whose absence forced Lynch to temporarily abandon his plan of deploying both quarterbacks at the same time. Lewis practiced Monday and again Tuesday, the first time he’s been able to do that since hurting the ankle, prompting questions about which quarterback would start against the two-time defending Mid-American Conference champs.
