School levies
The Jackson-Milton Local School District has placed on the Nov. 4 general election ballot a 5.5-mill emergency renewal levy and a 0.9-mill permanent improvement levy, both five-year measures. Some facts about both:
The renewal levy will bring in close to $1 million each year.
Funds would be used for teachers’ salaries and health-care benefits, along with other operating expenses.
Passage will not mean added taxes for homeowners.
The permanent improvement measure will mean more than $80,000 annually.
That money would go toward repairing the roof on one of the schools as well as buying essential items such as updated textbooks and computers.
