he mental health board’s five-year, 0.85-mill property tax levy is up for renewal on the Nov. 4 general election ballot. The board’s contract agencies, and the services they provide:

Burdman Group: Residential treatment, supportive housing, counseling, case management, employment and job retention, vocational rehabilitation, domestic violence.

Catholic Charities Regional Agency: Counseling for individuals and families to prevent family breakdown, to strengthen and enrich family life, and grief and bereavement; crisis response; outreach and case management to people at risk of becoming homeless.

D&E Counseling Center: Counseling for children and teens with emotional and behavioral problems, and their families; community support, education, consultation and other treatment and prevention services directed at achieving resiliency and life success in the child’s home, school and community.

Family Service Agency: Counseling, guardianship, community support and other mental health services designed to empower, improve and preserve families.

Help Hotline Crisis Center: 24-hour, 7 day-a-week crisis, suicide, information and referral service center; facilitates survivors of suicide and victims support groups, provides outreach and training, housing assistance program and guardianship services.

Meridian Services: Outpatient and residential addiction treatment for adults and adolescents; specialized services for dual-disordered individuals, supportive housing programs, HIV/AIDS services, community education and prevention, and employee assistance and wellness though Meridian WorkLIFE division.

Mahoning County Community Support Network: Diagnostic assessment, individual and group counseling, medication, mediation monitoring and case management to clients who have been identified as needing intensive services.

Turning Point Counseling Services: Individual and group counseling, community support, psychiatric, medication and crisis residential services, assist clients in coping with a wide variety of problems encountered in everyday living.

Agencies receiving mental health funds by special grant are:

ACLD Learning Center, Sojourner House Battered Persons Program, Family Service Agency Rape Counseling Program, Volunteer Services to Seniors, National Alliance on Mental Illness Mahoning Valley, Federation of Families, Juvenile Justice Center, Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries, Northeast Ohio Adoption Project, Potential Development, Help Hotline Mental Health Community Center, Youngstown YWCA Barbara Wick Program, and Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana.
