Weibels, family gather to mark 50th anniversary

• BOARDMAN — The immediate family of Mr. and Mrs. Keith E. Weibel of Boardman gathered for three days in Niagara Falls, N.Y., earlier this month to celebrate the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Hosting the weekend were Kurt and Gail Weibel of Cincinnati; Holly and Scott May and children Alec, McKenna and Jaron of Wrentham, Mass.; Brett and Son Hui Weibel of Clearwater, Fla.; and Derek and Tracy Weibel of San Diego.

The former Mary Lou Rust of Fairmont, W.Va., and Keith Weibel of Milwaukee, Wis., were united in marriage Oct. 12, 1958, in the Central Methodist Church of Detroit. They are members of Boardman United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Weibel was a public school vocal music and English teacher in Michigan before the family moved to Boardman 40 years ago. Locally, she has been an active volunteer with the Youngstown Symphony Society and the Lake to River Girl Scout Council, for which she also served as director of public relations. After those years she formed her own business and produced church directories for many local churches.

Mr. Weibel, a graduate of the U.S. Maritime Academy in Fort Trumbull, Conn., served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. After the war he worked in safety engineering and retired in 1985 as director of Boiler and Machinery Services from the FPE Group of San Francisco.
