Dinner reception honors Georges for 50th anniversary


• STRUTHERS — A dinner reception Oct. 11 honored Bill and Helen George, of 298 Elm St., to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

The reception, which was by invitation, took place at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Hosting the event were the couple’s children and grandchildren. Their children are Bill and Julie George, Bob and Debbie George, and Ken and Janet George, all of Struthers. They have six grandchildren: Sara, Kory, Rachel and Kyle George and Jessica and Tom Sandy, and three great-grandchildren: Noah, Hayden and Isaac Kazee.

Mr. George and the former Helen Texter exchanged wedding vows Oct. 11, 1958, at St. John the Baptist Church in Campbell.

The couple are members of St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.

Mrs. George, a keypunch operator for Standard Slag Co., is retired.

Mr. George retired from Republic Storage Systems Co. of Youngstown and Canton, where he was an engineer in layout. He is a member of Struthers Gridiron and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Korean War.
