60th anniversary luncheon honors Mr., Mrs. Poracky


• YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Poracky Sr., 864 Cambridge Ave., observed their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 23 at their home.

To mark the occasion, a luncheon hosted by their caregiver, Marilyn Carlson, and friends was served, and wedding cake followed.

The couple’s family includes son Larry Poracky Jr. and his wife, Angelita, of Boardman; son Thomas Poracky of Wayne City, Ill.; and nephew Atty. Joseph Vietmerer and his wife, Gloria, of Vermilion. The Porackys also have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The former Eleanor Dudick and Mr. Poracky were united in marriage on Oct. 23, 1948, at St. Agatha Church in West Point. The Porackys are members of St. Matthias Church.

Mrs. Poracky had been employed for 10 years at Little Forest Medical Center in Boardman, where she was a nurse’s aide and worked in the laundry room.

Mr. Poracky, who retired in 1990, had worked for Ace Lumber in Youngstown, American Window Co., and Modern Builders. He was a cabinetmaker and announcer of the Slovak radio program on WKTL-FM.
