CWU plans World Community Day


YOUNGSTOWN — Church Women United will mark World Community Day on Nov. 7 during a program at Lockwood United Methodist Church, 4570 Lockwood Blvd. The theme is “God’s Wisdom Sets Us Free.”

Registration is scheduled for 9 a.m., a service at 10, lunch at noon and afternoon session at 1 p.m., which will include election and installation of officers.

Christine White, nominating chairwoman, will present the slate for president, corresponding secretary and treasurer. The 2009 budget also will be presented.

CWU also will host its third annual celebration of Human Rights Day on Dec. 13 at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Ave. Registration will be at 9:30 a.m. with the program at 10.

Staughton and Alice Lynd and the Rev. Lonnie Simon will be honored.

There will be a holiday potluck luncheon.
