Balog scores 4 Struthers TDs; Wildcats jar Campbell, 28-13
CAMPBELL — Joe Balog scored all four of Struthers High’s touchdowns on runs of 14 and 4 yards and a pair of plunges from 1-yard out, as the Wildcats rolled to a 28-13 victory over Campbell Friday night.
Balog finished with 239 yards rushing on 36 carries to power Struthers (2-8).
Campbell (3-7) took an early lead in the first quarter when Richard Bledsoe caught a 52-yard TD pass from Darrio Bivens .
But right back came the Wildcats as Balog scored on a 1-yard run and the two teams went into the locker room at halftime tied 7-7.
Balog put the Wilcats out in from when he scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter. He then tallied on 14 and 4-yard runs in the fourth period.
Lakeview 36, Champion 10
CORTLAND — Justin Clark pass for two touchdowns and ran for another score to lead Lakeview (7-3).
Clark hit Ben Moody and Ethan Metheny on scoring passes of 57 and 17 yards, respectively, and also scored on a 56-yard dash.
Clark finished with 83 yards passing on 3-for-5 and 78 yards rushing in six attempts.
Moody, a senior running back, also scored on a 21-yard run and finished with 87 yards rushing in 17 carries.
Moody became Lakeview’s all-time career rushing leader with 2,829 yards. He surpassed Brian Borawiec who had 2,814.
Te Elias also scored for Lakeview on a 62-yard run, and wound up with 78 yards rushing in six tries.
Bill Yartz scored for Champion (3-7) on a 3-yard run and was 6-for-13 passing for 48 yards, while Tommy Stroup rushed for 78 yards in six carries.
Brookfield 28, Newton Falls 13
BROOKFIELD — Mac O’Brien scored touchdowns on runs covering 65, 14 and 26 yards for the Warriors (4-6, 3-2 AAC Blue).
O’Brien gained 187 yards on 21 carries.
Matt Palumbo, who gained 104 yards on 15 tries, scored on a 10-yard run.
For the Tigers (3-6, 1-4), Cory Dillen returned a kickoff 74 yards for as touchdown and Doug Matas hit Matt Novotny with a 7-yard scoring toss. John avis rushed for 83 yards on 15 carries.
Hubbard 28, Niles 0
HUBBARD — Andre Givens scored two touchdowns on runs of 69 an 29 yards and finished with 148 yards rushing in 16 attempts to fuel Hubbard (8-2).
Matt Shelton and Cory Farcas also scored TDs on runs of 16 yards and 1-yard, while Mike Lopuchovsky kicked three extra points.
Shelton was 6-for-15 passing for 68 yards.
Niles (2-8) was led by Morgan Brogdon with 3-for-6 passing for 59 yards but two interceptions, while Zak Stanton rushed for 49 yards in 10 carries.
East Liverpool 34, Salem 27
SALEM — Willlie Leavell scored five touchdowns and rushed for 330 yards in 19 carries to power East Liverpool (1-9).
Leavell tallied on runs of 7, 48, 79, 66 and 49 yards to lead the Potters to a 34-20 lead over the Quakers entering the final quarter.
Tyler Austin added 63 yards in 13 carries.
Trent Toothman led Salem with a pair of TD passes to Phil Bennett (49 yards) and Geno Pasquinelli (47), the latter TD pulling the Quakers within 34-27 after Ben Eisel’s third placement.
Toothman finished with 13-for-21 in the air for 219 yards.
Pasquinelli caught five passes for 94 yards, Jordan Strabala four for 47 yards.
Beaver Local 15, Akron North 14
LISBON — The Beavers (4-6) finished strong winning its last three games of the season as Brandon Bussard rushed for 112 yards on 23 carries, which included a TD run of 17 yards and he ran over the two-point conversion that provided Beaver Local with the deciding points.
The Vikings (4-6) ended their season with 143 yards of total offense, while Beaver Local had 228 yards of offense.
