Unity poll place made more accessible

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR

EAST PALESTINE — Work at the Unity Township garage intended to make the facility more accessible to voters during the Nov. 4 general election has been completed, officials said.

The township, in response to concerns expressed by residents, put about $1,800 into remodeling and making the space used for voting larger and more accessible. They also installed larger doors and handrails inside the restrooms.

Officials said some residents were concerned because they had to stand outside at various times during previous elections while waiting to vote.

In other news, the trustees gave road supervisor Bryan Henderson the authority to participate in an online auction hosted by West Virginia. Henderson was authorized to bid up to $3,500 for a 1987 tilt trailer.

Henderson said the auction is scheduled to close the morning of Oct. 28. He noted the auction features 17 used tilt trailers and that along with West Virginia, the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee are also participating in the auction.
