Scouting report: No. 1-ranked Mount Union cruised to a 49-0 win over Heidelberg last Saturday, while Wilmington lost to Otterbein, 30-14. The Purple Raiders won their 29th consecutive regular-season game. The MUC defense held Heidelberg to just 59 yards in the first half and 105 total yards for the game, with five sacks and nine tackles for loss. Sophomore Sam Kershaw had a season-high nine tackles while senior Joe Millings had seven stops and junior Matt Williamson three sacks. On offense, senior RB Nate Kmic ran for 134 yards on 19 carries and three TDs that took him to 101 total career TDs (97 rushing and three receiving). Senior QB Greg Micheli threw three TD passes and finished 15-for-19 passing for 193 yards. His top target was Cecil Shorts III with five catches for a game-high 75 yards.

Scouting report: Westminster overcame a 28-0 first quarter deficit to edge Bethany, 46-43, last Saturday on a 44-yard field goal by Trevor Young as time expired; while W&J piled up over 750 yards of total offense to roll past Saint Vincent, 72-20. The Westminster-W&J game will match the PAC’s top two QBs and RBs. W&J, ranked No. 8 in the nation, is led by senior QB Bobby Swallow (West Branch High) and RB Curt Jones who rank No. 1 in the PAC in passing yards (310.5) and rushing yards (96.2) per game. Westminster, meanwhile, will counter with junior QB Kevin Franz and RB Nick McKoloskey, who are ranked No. 2 with 246.0 and 89.1 yards, respectively. Each passer is coming off a 300-yard game last week and each rusher is coming off a game with at least 134 yards. This will be the first Westminster night game since the Titans won 12-7 at Geneva on Sept. 15, 2001. The Titans are 3-1 in its last four under the lights.

Scouting report: Waynesburg edged Geneva, 34-28, last Saturday under the lights in Beaver Falls while Bethany blew a 28-0 halftime lead and lost to Westminster, 46-43, on a 44-yard field goal by Trevor Young as time expired. Waynesburg put away the game for good with 3:13 left when Brad Dawson ran in his first rushing touchdown of the season from 38 yards out for a 33-21 lead. Dawson scored both of his TDs in the final quarter and passed for 95 yards on 5-for-17 with two interceptions, and rushed for 47 yards. Freshman RB back Justin Falcon had his first 100-yard rushing game with 118 yards on 22 carries. Senior DL D.J. DeWitt had eight total tackles, including six solo stops.

Scouting report: Slippery Rock lost to Edinboro last Saturday, 35-14, while California scored a 42-24 win over Gannon. If California defeats Slippery Rock, it will clinch at least a share of its fourth straight PSAC West title. Brandon Frohnapple was 13 of 22 passing for 122 yards, one TD and and interception for The Rock. Backup QB Brad Galvan was four of 11 passing for 48 yards without an interception. Dallas Richardson finished the game with a team-best 49 yards in pass receptions on three catches and one TD. Richie Barnes and Sam Morant each had seven tackles for The Rock, while Boudreau had a team-best two tackles for losses of 10 yards, one a sack. Barnes also had a sack.

Scouting report: Walsh lost to Malone last Saturday for the third straight time, 24-21, while Saint Francis (Ind.) had an open date. Walsh led the entire game until Billy Bob Orsagh’s 31-yard TD pass to Tyler Davis with 1:18 to play gave Malone the win. Walsh’s Jeff Tallman rushed for a career-best 276 yards and one TD on a 49-yard TD dash for Walsh. After Malone went ahead, Walsh took over on their 23-yard line following the kickoff, but was unable to move the ball and turned it over on downs with 30 seconds to play.
Urbana (1-6) vs. Malone (4-1)

Scouting report: Urbana lost to St. Xavier, 35-7, last Saturday while Malone beat Walsh last Saturday, 24-21, for the third straight time. Urbana left the MSFA Mideast League before the start of the season to move up to Division II. In Urbana’s loss, QB Evan Gehlert was 13-for-23 passing for 143 yards and one TD in only his second career start. On defense, LB Justin Stechenfinger finished with a team-high 12 tackles, including four for losses. In Malone’s win, QB Billy Bob Orsagh’s 31-yard TD pass to Tyler Davis with 1:18 to play gave the Pioneers the victory over Walsh. The TD pass completed a 12-play 96-yard drive, and gave the Malone its only lead of the day. Orsagh completed 26 of 42 passes, with one TD. Josh Settlemire (Howland) caught six passes for 74 yards and Tyler Davis six for 48 yards. Joseph Peters and Maurice Gore each rushed for 100 yards.
