Send a Libertarian message with your vote this year

EDITOR:

On Oct. 18, the Vindicator ran two columns by professional writers. One columnist said that not voting would show a lack of trust in both the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates. The second said that McCain’s negative campaign was allowing the issue of race to enter into the campaign as a negative attitude.

Such comments need replies. First if you wish to cast a negative image about the presidential candidates, it is not difficult. Both the Republican and Democratic candidates are career politicians. Is there any worse comment that can be said of these candidates?

As for not voting in order to protest the choice between two career politicians, I would like to remind voters that there are many other choices of presidential candidates on the Ohio ballot. Included on the ballot will be the Libertarian candidate, Bob Barr. Mr. Barr is a lawyer who has occasionally been a U.S. Representative. Libertarians do not like politicians or playing the political game. It is difficult to get Libertarians to run for offices because they prefer to stay out of “the pig pen.” So, be assured that Bob Barr will not act like other politicians if you support him.

Will he be elected? No, Libertarians know that he will not be, but a vote for him will tell the politicians what you think of their chosen profession.

So, if you’re tempted to stay away from the polls in protest, let me suggest that you go to the polls and cast a vote that will tell the politicians what you think of their self-serving profession. Vote for the Libertarian candidate who dislikes politicians as much as you do.

Support for Boardman levies

EDITOR:

The Board of Directors of the Boardman Civic Association supports the Boardman school renewal levy. No new taxes in light of the school system rated “excellent” is an educational bargain to us.

Boardman Park, “The Green Oasis” located in the heart of Boardman, is a recreational haven for Boardman where families gather to enjoy one of our greatest treasurers; the park’s natural resources. The park has been maintaining itself on a 0.3 mil for over 28 years. Certainly the Boardman Park deserves a renewed levy.

We have all faced a situation where we have called on the police or fire departments. Emergency situations occur everyday. Imagine the unfortunate outcomes if our Police and Fire Departments were unable to respond in a timely fashion to a loved one needing emergency care, or if your possessions were stolen or destroyed due to a lack of safety forces. Supporting the police and fire levy will help Boardman Township still be “A Nice Place to Call Home.”
