Regional Chamber announces $1M economic development program campaign

YOUNGSTOWN — The Regional Chamber today announced a campaign designed to raise $1 million annually for its economic development programs and other efforts.

About $500,000 already has been donated by area businesses, Tom Humphries, chamber president, said at a kickoff event at Youngstown State University. Chamber staff will be soliciting other businesses for contributions, he said.

More than half the money will be spent to expand the chamber’s efforts to attract new companies to the area and help current companies expand.

Money also will be spent on the chamber’s efforts to promote eduction, community image and entrepreneurship.
