Ice Castle king? YSU celebrates homecoming


YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State will observe homecoming this weekend, highlighted by Saturday’s football game against Northern Iowa.

Saturday’s game is the 27th homecoming game held at Stambaugh Stadium and the 67th overall dating back to 1938, when the Penguins defeated Clarion, 46-0.

Tailgating will begin at 10 a.m. and the homecoming parade will begin at 2 p.m. It will proceed along Fifth Avenue to Stambaugh Stadium.

This year’s homecoming week is themed “The YSU Story … Capturing the Past and Developing the Future.” For a full list of activities, visit www.ysu.edu/homecoming/.

Fans can receive a free game ticket with the purchase of one ticket and the donation of any empty Coca-Cola product. Also the first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a Pete the Penguin light switch cover.
