There is one contest on the general election ballot for the 11th District Court of Appeals, located in Warren, which serves Lake, Ashtabula, Geauga, Trumbull and Portage counties. The candidates vying for a seat are:

TIMOTHY P. CANNON* (D)

Age: 53

Home: 1714 W. Jackson St., Painsville.

Education: Law degree, John Marshall College of Law; bachelor’s degree, John Carroll University; high school, Cleveland St. Joseph.

Employment: Judge, 11th District Court of Appeals since July 2007; former partner, Cannon, Stern and Aveni for 27 years.

Family: Wife, Lisa; son, Geoff, an Ashtabula firefighter/paramedic; daughter, Sarah.

Priority: Decide cases without undue delay, implement electronic filing at appeals court and at local clerks offices to improve efficiency and save money on travel, paper and file storage expense.

PAUL I. BRICKNER (R)

Home: 4750 River St., Willoughby.

Age: 68

Education: Law degree, Case Western Reserve University; bachelor’s degree, University of Richmond.

Employment: Attorney; former U.S. administrative law judge for 24 years; acting municipal court judge.

Family: Single.

Priority: Improving the quality of the court’s decisions and opinions, speeding the decision-making process without diminishing time needed, enhanced use of technology, hard work, and programs such as mediation.
